Summer Days

Hi everyone – it’s Wednesday and I have some great news!

I submitted an application to join the Design Team at Crafty Creations Challenges and it was accepted! Yippee.

This is my first card as part of the team and the theme this week is a Summer Theme.

What do you think when you here this theme?  A beach theme? Summer Sport?  The list is endless.

I have gone with a warm Summer day theme.  Here in Australia when we get those hot humid Summer days you just long for that cool Summer breeze to kick in so you can sit back and enjoy watching the sun go down.

The layout for my card has been inspired by the sketch layout from 4 Crafty Chicks.

The colours I have used are Cajun Craze, More Mustard and So Saffron with some Very Vanilla card stock.

The stamp is from the Just Believe set and I have inked the image with More Mustard ink and then taken a Cajun Craze marker and added some colour randomly before I stamped.

The sun was created using So Saffron, More Mustard an a touch of Cajun Craze ink which I sponged on the card.  The sun was created with a post it note that I had punched out with the 1” (2.5 cm) Circle Punch.

I printed the words on the computer and punched out the Very Vanilla cardstock using the Modern Label punch.  The Cajun Craze cardstock was also punched out with the Modern Label punch and I cut it in half to create the border.

The butterflies have been created using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die and of course there is ‘bling’!

Here is my card…

Dasher

Hi everyone,

How is the week going?  Mine is going well but I am starting to wonder where the year is disappearing too.  In a few days it will be September and Christmas will be here before we know it.

How about starting your Christmas cards early ?  Yes well let me tell you what our new challenge is at Holly Jolly

The challenge this week is hosted by Judy and it is Santa’s Reindeers.

I have used the retiring Dasher stamp which will no longer be available after 31 August this year.

To me Dasher’s antlers just scream ‘bling’, so of course I added ‘bling’.

The base card is Early Espresso and the paper is from the new Holiday Catalogue which starts on 1 September.  The paper is called Candlelight Christmas Speciality DSP.

My card layout is inspired by the current sketch at Merry Monday Challenges.  The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set and layered on Lucky Limeade cardstock which is punched out using the Modern Label punch.

Here is my card…

Handmade Flowers

Hi everyone,

Well it is Sunday and it is time for the new challenge at Come and Get It.  This will be my last challenge as part of the Design Team and I have had a great time.

I have met some wonderful new crafting buddies and we have shared some great tips and tricks.  I am very lucky to have had this opportunity and I am sure I will get a chance to participate in some of the new challenges that come up.

But for now the challenge this week is Handmade or 3D flowers.

I am a flower chick so for me this is a great challenge, if you don’t see a flower you normally see a butterfly on most of my projects.

I had a couple of ideas to create the flowers but I decided to create flowers with an idea from Alisa Tilsner, after watching Alisa Tilsner’s video.

The punches that were used are the Blossom Punch, 1-3/4” (4.4 cm) Scallop Circle Punch and the Boho Blossoms Punch.

I scrunched the punched blossoms and I have added a little ink to each of the flowers plus some pearls.

The colours I have chosen are from the current The Dynamic Duo Challenge which is Wisteria Wonder and Concord Crush.

The layout is from the latest sketch at Clean and Simple.  The additional flowers were stamped in the Wisteria Wonder and Concord Crush ink using the Printed Petals stamp set.

The sentiment is from the retired Occasional Quotes Hostess Set.

Here is my card:

Monochromatic Christmas

Hi everyone,

The new challenge this week at Holly Jolly has been created by Cindy and it is a Monochromatic challenge.

My card is very blue – I have used Marina Mist and Night of Navy with some Whisper White.

The Whisper White piece of cardstock has been embossed using the Stripes Embossing Folder and I added some Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon before I added it to the base card.

I have used the Snow Swirled stamp set – a favourite at the moment.  First I stamped the set in Marina Mist and then I stamped the small snowflake in Night of Navy ink on scrap Whisper White and punched the snowflake out with the larger circle on the Owl Builder Punch.

There is a little ‘bling’ on each snowflake.  The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy ink and punched out with the Decorative Label punch.

Here is my card…

Feeling Sketch?

It’s Sunday and the weekend is over!  Mine has been busy like normal :)

Plus I have had a stall at the Western Sydney Indoor Markets today, meeting new people and sharing catalogues, ideas and just having fun.

But now on to the challenge at Come and Get It this week – it is a Sketch Challenge which has been set by Shell.

I have been thinking and changing my mind on what I would create for the sketch but in the end I decided to use the Circle Scissor Plus and cut a piece of the Cheerful Treat DSP.

I layered this on to an piece of Whisper White embossed cardstock.  I then punched out some Melon Mambo flowers using the Boho Blossoms punch and added them to the card using dimensionals.  The leaves have been created using the Bird Builder Punch (Owl Builder Punch) and cut down to fit behind the flowers.

I could not forget the ‘bling’ to the centre of the flowers and the sentiment is from the Field Flowers set.  I have used the Decorative Label punch to cut the sentiment out and it has been added to the card with dimensionals.

Here is my card….(image is replaced as I added an extra flower)

Christmas Sketch

New week, new challenge at Holly Jolly and this week it is a sketch plus the challenge is sponsored by Bugaboo.

I have used Basic Black for the base card and coloured the sponsors image Ava Mistletoe Fairy in with Real Red, Soft Suede, Blushing Bride and Old Olive.

I embossed a piece of Real Red cardstock with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and cut it in half.

I used the Labels Collection Framelits and cut the image out plus created a border in Old Olive which had been embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

The sentiment is from the Teen Tiny Sentiments stamp set and has been stamped in Real Red and punched out with the Word Window punch.  I also punched out two pieces of Real Red cardstock with the Word Window punch and created a little border behind the sentiment which sits on the Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon.

Oh and I cannot forget the swirls and the ‘bling’.

Believe

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share with you the details of our new challenge at Come and Get It.

It is a colour challenge and the colours are More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso.

This week’s challenge is sponsored by Bugaboo and I have chosen to use the “4 square - Believe” image.

I have taken a reverse spin on the spotlight technique and coloured the first layer of the image with a sponge in More Mustard and Cherry Cobber with a very small amount of Pumpkin Pie.

I then printed the image again and used the 1 3/4” & 1 3/8” circle punches to cut out the butterfly and the flower.

I added a strip of Early Espresso cardstock which had been punched on one side with the Eyelet Border Punch.

I used the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die to create some butterflies in Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White and then added them to the card with dimensionals.

Last but not least I added some ‘bling’ to all of the butterflies.

Here is my card…

Inspirational Christmas Challenge

Hi – how is your week going? Have you had time to create or maybe you need a little inspiration?

We have a great challenge over at Holly Jolly this week and it will definitely inspire you to get going on those Christmas cards.

This week I am hosting the challenge and if you haven’t already guessed it is an inspirational photo challenge.

There is a warm fire place, candles, Christmas trees, decorations, lots of different colours and the list goes on!

For my card the inspiration has been taken from the rug on the floor which is black and white and I have added the family Christmas tree image from the Welcome Christmas stamp set as there are lots of Christmas trees in the picture.

The image has been embossed with black embossing powder and cut it out using the Labels Framelits.  I have also gone for a white on white look as there are two lovely white arm chairs placed in the picture.  A scrap of Whisper White cardstock has been embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The image has been added to the embossed background with dimensionals.

For some colour (inspired by wrapped presents) I added some Real Red 5/8” (1.6 cm) Satin Ribbon and a large bow.  I have not added some ‘bling’ for a while to my projects but it has been added to this card!

French Flower

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share with you a card that I created with inspiration from the current sketch at Try Stampin on Tuesday and the wonderful colours in the photo inspiration at the Shabby Tea Room Challenge.

I have used Certainly Celery for the base cardstock and added a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock which has been stamped in Crumb Cake with the En Francais background stamp.  I added some extra Crumb Cake ink with a dauber on the edges and various parts of the background image.

A border of Pretty in Pink cardstock has been added to the top of the card and has an scalloped edge which I created using the Eyelet Boarder punch and then I added some Chantilly Lace/Ribbon.  The bow is the Pretty in Pink 3/8”  (1 cm) Taffeta Ribbon.

I added a flower which is in Pretty in Pink cardstock and the First Edition Speciality Paper and uses the largest flower in the Blossom Party Die which has been run through the Big Shot.

The Pretty in Pink flower has been crunched, folded and separated and the First Edition flowers have been distressed a little with some Crumb Cake ink.

The leaves are in Certainly Celery cardstock and have been created using the Little Leaves Sizzlits Die in the Big Shot and tucked behind the flower.  The flower centre is one of the Antique Brads.

Birthday Wishes

Hi everyone – how has your weekend been?  We have had a lovely couple of days here in Sydney with about 19 degrees and glorious sun shine.

We have a new challenge this week at Come and Get It is Adult Birthday.

So I have created a sort of Vintage look card using the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

The cardstock is Marina Mist, Whisper White with a touch of Crumb Cake.

I embossed a piece of Whisper White cardstock and then swiped the Marina Mist ink pad across the embossed cardstock.  I added a little bit more ink with a dauber in both Marina Mist and Crumb Cake.

I added a couple of Crumb Cake Swirls by using the Swirls Scribbles Sizzlits Die and a handmade stubby tag in Whisper White, stamped a sentiment in Crumb Cake and added a bit more ink around the edges with a dauber.

The ribbon is the 1-1/4” Marina Mist Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and I added a pin from the Vintage Trinkets embellishments.

Here is my card:
