Just Because…

Hi everyone,

The title of this blog just seems right at the moment just because……. it’s the title of my card…..it just how things are at the moment…..it’s just my excuse and it’s all Just Because.

Last weekend I attended the Stampin’ Up! Regional meeting and it was lovely to catch up with friends, talk, stamp and just tune out of everything else for a while.

There was lots of inspiration and excitement with the launch of the new catalogue this month.

One of the things I have purchased is the Delicate Doilies stamp set and the co-ordinating DSP Flirtatious Specialty.

The colours in this DSP are lovely : Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Pretty In Pink, Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White.

There is a also a 2 Doily Laser Cut double sided sheets in the pack.

I had been looking at the challenges this week and I have completed a card for the Just Add Ink Challenge using the Melon Mambo Doily Laser Cut Sheet from the DSP Pack.

The Just Add Ink Challenge is to use White plus ONE other colour!

So I have used Melon Mambo and Whisper White.

Here is my card:

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Back with a new card to share and I have taken inspiration from two challenges:

A sketch challenge from Just Us Girls

A sentiment challenge from Paper Players

A colour challenge from Meighan (LOL):

Night of Navy, Riding Hood Red, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla.

I used Night of Navy for the base of my card and then I added an embossed piece of Riding Hood Red cardstock.  The embossing folder used is the Elegant Lines textured impressions embossing folder.

The butterflies are from the Beautiful Wings and Beautiful Butterflies Dies and I have used the Stampin’ Pastels Night of Navy to create a touch of shading on the two Very Vanilla butterflies.

I have used the Circle Scissor Plus to cut out the large two circles.  The large circle is from a sheet of the Botanical Gazette DSP.

Our children all played together and it was nice to get away for the weekend.  I think sometimes we forget to stop and just enjoy times like this.

That was my weekend but now on to the card I have created for two challenges.

The sketch challenge from Create with Connie and Mary and the current Play Date Cafe Challenge.

Create Sketches Square-011

It’s Black & White with a Splash of Green

Hi everyone,

How was your weekend?  Hope your week is off to a good start!

I did go to the movies with my Mum and saw “Water for Elephants” – it was a very good movie but I the circus master was a very cruel man!

I know that they say that the book in normally better than the movie but for this movie I do not believe I could read the book.  I must say the elephant in the movie was beautiful – as beautiful an elephant can be !

On to crafty things and I have a card to share with you.

The colours have been inspired by the challenge at The Play Date Cafe – It’s Black and White with a touch of Green.

The sketch layout was from Sketch Frenzy Friday – this sketch has closed but I liked the simplicity of it:

I have used Basic Black for the base of the card and I have embossed the Whisper White in the Big Shot with the Elegant Lines embossing folder.

IMG_1804_edited-1

Supplies:

Stamp set: Clearly for You, Pocket Silhouettes

Card: Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz

Cottage Friend

Hi everyone – how are you going for Thursday?  I am well, feeling great and looking forward to the weekend.

We have our fortnightly girly get together this Friday where we probably do more talking then crafting but it is a great way to wind down and catch up.

Also I am going to the movies with Mum this weekend to see ‘Water for Elephants’ – a girly flick  and we will catch up with Dad for dinner after the movies.

So speaking of girly things, I have created a card that fits into three current challenges:

The first is the very Girly Challenge from the Friday Mashup Challenge - Ribbons, Pearls and all things Girls – what a beautiful little girl!

The second challenge is from SUO challenges – Flowers for May.  You can visit this site to see this challenge if you click here.

The last challenge is from Paper Players and is a Sketch Challenge # 48:

I have used a colour combo of Melon Mambo, Basic Grey and Old Olive with Very Vanilla, as well as the lovely Vintage Vogue stamp set.

I cannot believe a few months ago I was struggling to think of ways to use this set!  I have used this lovely set so many times lately.

For that extra touch I used some of the Chantilly 1/2” Crochet Trim.

IMG_1797_edited-1

Supplies:

Stamp set: Vintage Vogue

Card: Melon Mambo, Basic Grey, Very Vanilla
Ink: Melon Mambo, Basic Grey, Old Olive

Accessories:  Textured Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folders, 1/2” (1.3 cm) Chantilly Crochet Trim, Circle Scissors Plus, Sticky Strip, Rhinestone Brads, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive

What do you think ?  Leave me a comment if you get a chance and let me know.

I think the sketch challenge really suited the girly theme.

All the best…. Meg x

Finally another post & challenge

Hi everyone,

I haven’t had a chance to send a post for a while as I have been to the Stampin’ Up! Convention in Melbourne and it was GREAT!

Had a wonderful time, met so many crafty people, exchanged ideas and it was so worth travelling to Melbourne and experiencing the cold and wet but I must say I also got to see my Sister and her family which was an added bonus :)

As you know, you then come back home you get back into routines work, school, life in general but along the way unfortunately pick up a cold.

So I was not feeling the best over the weekend but I am much better now and back on board.

Now on to my card creation…..

I have used the colour challenge from Just Add Ink and the sketch challenge from Create with Connie and Mary:

Summer11Challenges-003

I have used Baja Breeze for the base of my card and I have created a card for Child’s Birthday.  It is my youngest niece’s birthday next month so I think I will give this card to her.

I have used the Fox & Friends, Party This Way & On Your Birthday stamp sets as well as some of the texture embossing folders in the Big Shot.

 IMG_1795_edited-1

Supplies:

Stamp set: Fox & Friends, Party This Way, On Your Birthday

Card: Baja Breeze, Pear Pizzazz, Perfect Plum, Whisper White
Ink: Certainly Pear Pizzazz, Perfect Plum

Accessories:  Textured Square Lattice & Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folders, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Word Window Punch, 1” (2.5 cm) Circle Medium Punch, 1-3/8” (3.5 cm) Circle Large Punch, 3/8” (1 cm) Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, 1/2” (1.3 cm) Pear Pizzazz Stitched-Poly Ribbon, Mat Pack for Paper Piercing, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive

This was an unusual sketch but this is why you call them challenges!

In the end I think both the sketch and the colours have worked well together and I am sure my niece will enjoy this card for her 4th Birthday.

Until next time…. Meg x

Thank You

Hi everyone,

Another week gone and the weekend is here and I have another card to share with you.

The colours are from the Scrapmaster’s Paradise Color Combo # 98 challenge – visit Scrapmaster’s Paradise by clicking on the image.

The other inspiration is from the Paper Players Challenge # 45 - Birds, Bees, Flowers and/or Trees # 45.

I have also used Paper Players sketch from last week as inspiration for the card and you can visit Paper Players by clicking on the image.

The base of my card is Chocolate Chip cardstock and the Tempting Turquoise cardstock has been embossed in the Big Shot with the new Framed Tulips Textured Impressions folder.

The Chantilly Crochet Trim has been layered on the Chocolate Chip Scallop Trim Border Punched cardstock.

Cherish

Hi everyone,

It’s the middle of the week and I don’t know about you but things are so busy.

But as you will appreciated, we always need a bit of my time and with my time tonight after finishing some chores, I have created a new card to share with you and the card uses two challenges.

The first is the current colour challenge # 148 from Create with Connie & Mary and the other challenge is the sketch challenge # 137 from the Clean & Simple site.

Color Coach-002

The colours from the colour challenge are wonderful, they have co-ordinated so well.

For the sketch I have used the lovely swirls image from the Baroque Motifs set for the main part of the card.  I had forgotten how much I love this stamp set !

IMG_1587_edited-1

Supplies:

Stamp set: Baroque Motifs

Card: Wild Wasabi, Perfect Plum, So Saffron, Whisper White
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Perfect Plum

Here are the challenges below and you can view the sites if you click on these images.

ColorChallenge39

The base card is Pumpkin Pie and I have used Very Vanilla as the neutral card stock.

I have also rotated the sketch and my card and use the Upsy Daisy stamp set.

IMG_1584_edited-1

Accessories:  3/8” (1 cm) Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Mat Pack for Paper-Piercing, Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive

Unfortunately I did not have enough room for the sentiment on the front of the card but I will add that on the insert inside the card.

A quick card, I like it – if you want to let me know what you think, please leave me a comment.

Until next time….. Meg x

Hello Blossoms Sketch

Hi Everyone,

Time has been on short supply this week :)      so I have not had a lot of time to create very much.

But I should get back into the swing of things over the weekend.

Although I had a chance to create a new card using the Hello Blossoms stamp set for the Card Patterns Sketch #112 challenge and the ColorQ colour challenge.

Both are below and you can visit the sites if you click the images:

I have twisted the sketch and changed it a little as this stamp set has the sentiment in the flowers.

I also stamped the image twice, the first one was on Whisper White cardstock in Kiwi Kiss ink and the second on Whisper White cardstock with Baja Breeze ink.

Both pieces of  the Whisper White cardstock were the same size prior to being stamped on so I cut them down the middle and then matched the images up to get the two tone effect.

IMG_1576_edited-1

Supplies:

Stamp set: Hello Blossoms

Card: Always Artichoke, Pear Pizzazz, Baja Breeze, Whisper White
Ink: Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss (Retired)

Accessories:  5/8” (1.6 cm) Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Always Artichoke Grosgrain Ribbon (Retired), Mat Pack for Paper-Piercing, Scallop Edge Border Punch, Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive

This was a quick card to make with this great sketch layout.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

PS - This little stamp set is such great value and is currently available Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue which you can view via the link on my blog or if you would like a copy of the mini catalogue email me and I will send one to you.

Take care….. Meg x

Friends

Hi everyone,

It has been an interesting week, I have been in Melbourne and on the return trip unfortunately we were delayed about 2.5 hours getting back to Sydney on Tuesday night.  As there had been a Security issue in Sydney earlier in the day.

At one stage we were told that we would not get back to Sydney before curfew (that’s 11 pm) but we did get back with about 15 minutes to spare.

So many people were inconvenienced and some have only just been reallocated flights, so I cannot complain too much.

With the late return on Tuesday night and trying to squeeze in 5 days of work into two on Wednesday and Thursday, I have not had a much time or energy to do any crafting.

But this evening (Good Friday), I have managed to create a quick card for the following challenges:

Card Patterns Sketch 111

and Flutter by Wednesday open challenge and with this challenges there is always a need for a butterfly but for me that is not hard :)

and Just Add Ink – Mateship/Friendship for Anzac Day challenge

My card has some of the wonderful Elegant Soiree DSP and I taken the colour inspiration for my card from this paper which is Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Basic Grey.

IMG_1560_edited-1

Supplies:

Stamp set: Great Friend, Hello Again

Card: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake,
Ink: Soft Suede, Baja Breeze

Accessories:  Lots of Tags Sizzlits 4-Pack Dies, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive

I have used Soft Suede for the base of my card and the friendship sentiment from the Great Friend stamp set.

I had forgotten about the Lots of Tags 4-Pack Dies which go through the Big Shot and make a quick label for any card or creative project, so I am happy to have used it in this card.

Let me know what you think by leaving a comment and don’t leave it too long before your next visit.

Have a great Easter!  Meg x

Free like a Butterfly…

Hi everyone,

How are you going?  I am well and happy that I can share another card with you.

Today I have created a card for two challenges:

  1. a colour challenge from Create with Connie & Mary # CCMC146 and
  2. then a sketch layout from Clean & Simple # 135!

Both challenges are below for you to see and you can visit the sites if you click on the images.

I must admit this colour challenge took a lot of thought, as the colours are bright colours.

In the end I  decided on using Real Read for the base of the card and with some Very Vanilla in the mix, I think the end result is quite good!

IMG_1556_edited-1

Supplies:

Stamp set: All a Flutter, Sense of Time

Card: Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Very Vanilla
Ink: Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie

Accessories:  Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Nestabilities, 3/16” (0.5 cm) Corner Small Punch,  Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive

I love this butterfly image from the All a Flutter stamp set – this is a single image that can be purchased out of the current catalogue.

Please leave me a comment if you get a chance but remember to spend a little time creating !!!

Until next time….. Meg x
